Bookworm launches Saturday, June 11.

Thanks to those of you who have signed up for Bookworm and are reading this in your inboxes. To the rest of you: Thank you for stopping by.

If you followed my previous books newsletter, Bookmarks, which I wrote as the books columnist for The Oregonian/OregonLive, this undertaking will be a little different.

Bookworm isn’t attached to any organization, so I won’t be limiting myself to writing about books within a specific category, as I did with Bookmarks, which focused on authors living or working in Oregon.

Bookworm will, as the name suggests, be more active in its explorations. Each week, I’ll feature a book whose message and themes I’m still digesting well after turning the final page. Bookworm won’t always be about new titles — more like “new to me” titles. I’ll include a brief preamble about how I came across each book because, after all, part of the fun of reading is finding books to enjoy.

One advantage of being on Substack is the ease of back-and-forth with readers. I look forward to hearing from you about Bookworm.
